If Castaway Cay is on your Disney Cruise itinerary, you are in for one of the most enjoyable days of your entire trip.
It is beautiful, well-organized, and incredibly easy to navigate, especially for families traveling with children. With just a bit of planning, you can make the most of your time on the island and enjoy a smooth, relaxing beach day.

Get Off the Ship Early
If you are hoping to secure a prime spot on the family beach, I recommend disembarking earlier in the day.
Chairs and shaded areas with umbrellas tend to fill quickly. Arriving early allows you to settle in comfortably and start your day without feeling rushed.
Pick Up Towels Before You Leave the Ship
As you exit the ship, you will see beach towels available for guests. Be sure to grab them at that time.
This is the most convenient opportunity to pick them up, and I recommend taking a few extras, especially when traveling with children.
Take Advantage of the Tram
While walking to the beach is an option, the distance is longer than many guests anticipate.
The tram is a convenient and efficient way to get there, particularly if you are carrying beach bags or traveling with younger children.

Bring Collapsible Sand Toys
For families with younger children, collapsible sand toys are a simple but valuable addition.
They pack easily in your luggage and provide a great way to keep little ones entertained while you relax.
Visit Scuttle’s Cove During Open House
Scuttle’s Cove, the island’s supervised kids club, offers open house hours where families can explore together.
This is a great opportunity to familiarize your children with the space and determine if they would enjoy spending time there during the day.

Check the Navigator App for Character Experiences
Be sure to check the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app for character meet-and-greet times.
One of the highlights of Castaway Cay is seeing characters in their island attire, and there are photographers available throughout the island to capture these moments.
Pack Light and Let Disney Handle the Rest
One of the biggest advantages of Castaway Cay is how little you actually need to bring with you.
Beach chairs and umbrellas are provided
Life vests are available for children
Wagons are available on a first-come, first-served basis
Essentials such as sunscreen can be purchased on the island if needed
Disney has designed this experience to be as seamless and stress-free as possible.
Castaway Cay is one of those rare experiences where everything feels effortless.
It offers the perfect balance of relaxation and family friendly fun, allowing you to slow down and truly enjoy your time together.
For many families, it becomes one of the most memorable days of their entire cruise.
